Built from the Ground Up

An Ethiopian-owned, women-led social enterprise bringing the right people and skills to every programme.

Who We Are

A Social Tourism Enterprise Built Around Your Programme

Active Ethiopia is a social tourism enterprise and full-service destination management company. We support international travel companies, event organisers, charities, institutions and production teams with consultancy, programme design and complete ground handling in Ethiopia.

Every project calls for a different combination of skills. We draw on a pool of skilled guides, event hosts, concierges, experienced professional drivers, academics and specialist support professionals. The brief determines the team, whether the work involves a cultural tour, a conference, an active challenge or a media production.

Our approach connects professional delivery with opportunities for Ethiopian people and local enterprises. We work with communities and suppliers to agree meaningful participation, clear responsibilities and fair arrangements for the people who make each programme possible.

Our Approach

The Right Expertise a Shared Purpose

01

The Skills Your Project Needs

We assemble the right mix of local knowledge, specialist expertise and practical support for each assignment. Teams are selected and briefed around the programme, its participants and the standards your organisation expects.

02

Briefed to Your Standards

Your ethos and way of working shape our preparation. Through joint briefings and specialist training, our team and yours agree service standards, communication and responsibilities before delivery.

03

Supported by Mulu Tourism Consultancy

Our management teams receive ongoing professional support from Mulu Tourism Consultancy. This helps us strengthen programme planning, management practice and the development of tourism experiences, alongside our operational work.

04

Tourism with Local Purpose

Our social enterprise approach places Ethiopian skills, local livelihoods and community relationships at the centre of delivery. We consider who participates, how hosts benefit and how programmes respect the places and people involved.

Responsible Travel

We plan visits with receiving communities, agree fair payment for local skills and services, and match each programme with appropriate local expertise. Hosts should understand the purpose of a visit and have a choice about taking part.

Our approach to community consent and fair payment is part of programme design, not an optional addition.
