About the Event
Timqet commemorates the Baptism of Christ. Communities gather for processions, prayer and the blessing of water, with celebrations taking different forms across Ethiopia. The main calendar date in 2027 is 19 January. A programme should respect worship, local practice and the receiving community.
For: Tour operators, pilgrimage organisers and cultural groups preparing guests for the Baptism of Christ and its communal observance.
Planning Your Participation
- Choose the receiving community and a programme that suits your group’s faith tradition, interests and mobility.
- Plan arrival before the main celebration, allowing time for preparation and local orientation.
- Agree appropriate observation, dress, photography and access with local hosts.
How We Support You
- Coordinate procession viewing, Tabot-related access boundaries and transport around road closures and the worshipping community.
These are programme-planning options, not an official organiser itinerary. We agree the scope, feasibility and quotation with your team.
